Two doctors Dr Billy Cohn and Dr Bud Frazier from Texas Heart institute have successfully carried out a surgical operation in which there was complete removal of a man’s heart and replaced with a rotor-like device.
the reason for this is that the patient craig lewis 55 was diagnosed of amyloidosis which has a damaging effect on his heart and other organs stop working, just before his surgery doctors told him he had only 12 hours to live but his life was saved through a small fan like device designed by two american doctors from texas university, these doctors removed his heart upon receiving permission from his wife linda lewis and replaced it was a small fan like device that would constantly cause blood to flow all through his body.
2 days after the operation had been concluded mr lewis awoke and began speaking and was able to continue his normal life, although without a heart.
the doctors say they have tested the devices on 50 calves and have found it to be a success as the animals continued their normal lives eating and sleeping as though nothing had happened except that they didnt have any readable pulse(no heartbeat)
mr lewis has now become the first man on record with no heartbeat, no pulse reading on an EKG and no heart yet he lives
