10 VECHICLES BURNT IN A TANKER ACCIDENT ALONG LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESS

MOTORISTS had a nasty experience yesterday on the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Many were trapped in a terrible traffic jam, which followed an all-night fire sparked by a tanker that spilled its 33,000 litres of petrol on the road.

Five persons were feared dead. Ten vehicles, including three tankers, were burnt in the fire, which was still smouldering in the afternoon.

The incident occured at Danko village near Ogere-Remo.

The inferno halted traffic on the nation's foremost highway for more than 10 hours.

Many people travelling to Ibadan from Lagos aborted their trip.

Those who died were burnt, according to eyewitnesses. But the police said only one person died.

Spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi said:

"The accident occurred at about 1 am on Thursday while a driver of a tanker fully loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) was trying to manoeuvre his way through two vehicles on the expressway. His tanker fell and the product spilled on the road.

"In the course of this spill, a fire broke out and the entire area was engulfed by fire.

"A casualty was reported. A male whose identity is yet to be ascertained but investigation is on-going."

But a man who claimed to have witnessed it said the incident was preventable if the road was in a good shape.

According to him, seven trailers and many cars were burnt.

"The tanker driver could not say that he was not aware that the road was bad. He was on high speed when suddenly he ran into a pot hole and this led to the accident. The tanker fell after manoeuvring its way in between two cars.

"We counted five bodies but I am sure that the casualty figure would be more than that."

UNILAG REMAINS MAU, AS FG REMAINS ADAMANT TO PROTESTS

In spite of the furor with which the name change was received by students of UNILAG,the federal Government has said that it will not reconsider its decision to rename the University. President Goodluck Jonathan during his democracy broadcast,

announced that University of Lagos has been renamed Moshood Abiola University.

The government reaction was made known Wednesday afternoon by the Minister of
Information, Labaran Maku, after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.

He explained that the honour was in response to call by Nigerias to immortalize Abiola with the institution.

Maku affirmed that the protesters and other
Nigerians who did not like the idea would soon realize that President Jonathan meant well, he added that, "sometimes government decisions get reactions from the populace; we do not as an
administration see this as a disapproval. We just see it as a normal way in every democracy that when you make major decisions definitely sometimes you have public reaction but we should not allow the protest to overshadow the national significance of what Mr. President has done."

"I think he has shown that he is a true statesman and he truly appreciates the significance of M.K.O's contribution in the political
development of our country; and as people who were adults in 2003, we think that this decision has been long overdue. Today, MKO Abiola can turn in his grave and say this nation, for whom I made the supreme sacrifice for political development has recognised my contributions."

Continuing, Maku said it was government's hope that reason will prevail and that the decision to honour one of our nation's icon and hero will be appreciated by all Nigerians including our youths and students."

He further stated that if there was any figure that symbolised sacrifice of self for the country, the entire nation knew that it was the late Abiola, "who clearly won the June12, 1992 Presidential election and died in that captivity because he stood for principle, he stood to defend the principle of democracy.

"For anyone that is familiar with the development of our politics in the last two
decades, there is no event in the political history of our country that touches the hearts of quite a significant number of citizens like the June 12 Presidential election."

"In the last two decades there have been widespread outcry that this democracy has not
recognised Chief M.K.O Abiola and other heroes
who passed on under controversial circumstances as a result of what they did to
stand for the democratic development of this country.

"These outcries have continued to come from citizens spread across the nation. What Mr. President did was to listen to the outpouring of appeals of persuasions by Nigerians across this country that MKO deserved to be immortalised.
What he therefore did in his capacity as a visitor to the University of Lagos was to name the University after Moshood Abiola of blessed
memory."

"The decision has been made in very good faith by Mr. President and we have seen the reactions by a section of the students of University of
Lagos.

We have also seen the outpouring of encomiums
by patriots and statesmen who really understand
the reasons why the President honoured Abiola.

Maku stated that the President's gesture should
be a unifying point for the country and its democracy.

"I remember that around 1987-88, when one of Nigeria's foremost nationalist and leaders, Chief Obafemi Awolowo passed. The Federal
Government renamed the University of Ife as Obafemi Awolowo University."

He added that the renaming of the institution was not the first of its kind and should not generate upheaval as it is currently doing.

THE 10YEAR OLD GIRL WHO CANNOT DO WITHOUT HAVING SEX DAILY

A 10-year old girl who was a victim of sexual abuse has made a shocking confession, saying that she cannot do without having sex with men daily.

She narrated how an old man, who was their neighbour at Mile 12, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, lured her into sex at seven and since then she cannot resist having sex everyday.

The primary two pupil said if she did not see any man to have sex with her in her area, she would go to a popular under bridge at Mile 12 Lagos and beg for sex from touts. She said she came from Enugu state to Lagos to live with her aunt after the death of her father.

Her case has become so serious that she had to be referred to an NGO, Community Health Support and Empowerment Initiative, COHSAEI, which has taken up the challenge to rehabilitate
her.

The little girl said she was lured into sex by a man she called Baba who lived with her aunt in the same compound.

She said the man (Baba) usually called her to his
apartment whenever his wife and her aunt were not around and will put his finger inside her private part.

"He will tell me to come back home immediately our school closes and when I reach home he will be waiting for me to finger my vagina," she narrated. She said with time he started having real sex
with her.

She said when the man that initiated her into it moved out of their area, she resorted to meeting other men in the area without her aunt knowing.

She said she has become addicted to sex and cannot do without it.
"When I desire sex and I do not see anybody to do it in my area, I will go under the bridge and beg the touts to do it for me," she said.

Her predicament came when she confessed to her teacher what she was going through after the teacher noticed some abnormal behaviour in
her.

The teacher contacted her aunt who contacted an NGO for assistance.
The programme coordinator of the NGO, Mrs. Priscilla Ingbia, noted that her case was very pathetic because of her age.

She said her group took up the challenge to rehabilitate her because it was clear if nothing was done urgently her future was in danger.

She said her organisation has started the process of rehabilitating her by carrying out series of tests on her to ascertain her health
conditions.

Ingbia stressed the urgent need to relocate her from her present environment and start a new life for her.

CHANEL ESPACE PARFUMS

DSCN9548

Hello everyone!

We are happy to share with you a great experience we had on the occasion of the opening Chanel Parfums Espace studio. This is a new concept for Chanel fragrances, where you have the opportunity to make your own custom-made perfume during the private consultations with Chanel’s experts!

Very intimate and luxuriously furnished space in a recognizable style of this fashion house will remind you of Chanel boutiques around the world: gold, well known tweed and fantastic details of which we have to mention books and a lion. Leo, in fact, is Coco Chanel's zodiac sign  and you can find it in Chanel stores, but surely you've noticed it in Chanel fashion shows!

It is interesting that this studio was opened in many countries, but not in France. So, for the ultimate experience of luxury the only thing you have to do is go to the studio in Mesnicka 1. Besides the luxury that is unavoidable with the Chanel name, the area has a very relaxing feel so you can choose the scent you are looking for peacefully and relaxed, but once you sit for the  olfactory bar expert  will be devoted only to you. Olfactory table contains 54 aromatic concentrates and covers the entire range of Chanel perfumery. Also, in the studio can find a collection of fragrances Les Exclucifs de Chanel, available only in this area, which contains 13 exclusive scents.
